Luci K. Leykum, MD, MBA, MSc is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA). She is a Health Services Research Investigator in the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. Her work has focused on assessing and improving healthcare system function using complexity science as a framework. Specifically, she has focused on relationships, sensemaking, and learning among providers, and among providers, patients, and families. She has received state and federal funding, and has authored or co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Dr. Leykum also serves as Division Chief for Hospital Medicine and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in the School of Medicine. She joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio faculty in 2004, after serving on the faculty of the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, where she trained.
