Military Conflict
Modern military actions are highly complex encounters between hidden, distributed networks of individuals. Urban conflict, terrorist networks, and peacekeeping demand new strategies, organizational structures and capabilities. NECSI research on military conflict describes how to match military forces to the tasks they face. NECSI studies also characterize how to transform existing military organizations to meet these complex challenges with networked structures while retaining traditional capabilities. The key to transformation includes both processes for organizational change as well as the rapid development and implementation of advanced technology, complementing organizational change.
