Abstract
Kant in To Perpetual Peace argued that many nations firstly segregated from each other, and then, competed with others in the race of commerce, through which new world system emerges spontaneously. There are three stages, that is, conflict, competition and coexistence. This theory often has been said to be too optimistic, but here the authors would like to show that it has some reality with the result of simulation of the models, which are based on conflict theory and Lotka-Volterra equations.
Conflict theory means that the groups segregated from others through conflict. In Kantís mind, the conflict of language is the most important factor to live separately. In the first stage, 100% of segregation model through conflict can be used. Then, Lotka-Volterra equations are applied, which deal with the changes of population of some species in the relation of predatory and prey. In the social science, they should be changed into the ones describing the relation of competition. Competition is sometimes a kind of mutation, for both parties stimulate each other and get benefits from it. Through competition, in Kantís theory, each nation flourishes, and they develop their democracy and their own culture. But in the zero-sum game, competition is also conflict. It often leads to war, as history shows. In the second stage, therefore, here can both cooperation and conflict model be used. Finally new world order emerges through coexistence of these nations. The authors also would like to show this mechanism through mathematical models. The recent developments of researches on social capital and network dynamics will give a good suggestion.
