The Complex World

COMPLEX SYSTEMS IN SCIENCE AND SOCIETY:

Military news article

The increasing complexity of military conflicts over the last several decades has spurred a tremendous effort to adapt the military to a world in which "conventional warfare" is increasingly seen as a thing of the past.

Terrain, dispersed enemy forces, technology, political considerations-- all have an impact on the potential effectiveness of strategies, logistics, and operational goals. These lessons are being incorporated in military doctrine, technological research, and modernization programs. The great promise of complex systems studies has been acknowledged by the United States military. Cooperative efforts between the Navy, Air Force, and NECSI are helping to realize that promise.

Complex systems provides a scientific framework for understanding the intricacies of military operations.
